I have been training Muay Thai seriously since January. One thing that I notice is that consisently showing up to train does not linearly translate to the same amount of improvement. For instance, I have been trying to get that snap from my roundhouse kick and every time, I intentionally try to understand and execute this snap, the technique is off. And then suddenly after months of training, I got the feel of the snap! It was sudden. It just happened.
I had the same experience learning tennis. The number of hours that I put in does not translate to the same improvement in my forehand and backhand. That experience convinced me that learning is non-linear.
The same holds true for business: hours invested rarely yield perfectly proportional returns. Many entrepreneurs tread water for 5–10 years before experiencing exponential growth. Linear progression is elegant in theory, but in reality, progress often comes… slowly and then suddenly.
SLOWLY AND THEN SUDDENLY.
