I live a very active lifestyle. My week consists of lifting weights, swimming, tennis, boxing and muay thai. For the past 4 days, however, I haven’t been active. I am busy with so much work that exercise and movement has been an afterthought. This has been happening more frequently now that I have so many things on my plate. I have big goals, and I’m working hard to make them come to fruition.
But I feel like shit when I don’t exercise.
That made me realize something: exercise has to be a nonnegotiable.
When something is nonnegotiable, you stop having options. You have to do it. You stop using busyness as an excuse. No time? You do have time when it is nonnegotiable. Perhaps the only valid reason not to exercise is a major injury. Now that’s a valid excuse.
Exercise has so many benefits for physical health, mental clarity, energy, and long-term well-being, yet it is still one of the easiest things to put off. That’s exactly why I need to make it a firm part of my structure.
From today onwards, I will not let anything get in the way of exercising. It is part of how I live.
