Exercise is a non-negotiable

I live a very active lifestyle. My week consists of lifting weights, swimming, tennis, boxing and muay thai. For the past 4 days, however, I haven’t been active. I am busy with so much work that exercise and movement has been an afterthought. This has been happening more frequently now that I have so many things on my plate. I have big goals, and I’m working hard to make them come to fruition.

But I feel like shit when I don’t exercise.

That made me realize something: exercise has to be a non-negotiable.

When something is non-negotiable, you stop having options. You have to do it. You stop using busyness as an excuse. No time? You do have time when it is non-negotiable. Perhaps the only valid reason not to exercise is a major injury. Now that’s a valid excuse.

Exercise has so many benefits for physical health, mental clarity, energy, and long-term well-being, yet it is still one of the easiest things to put off. That’s exactly why I need to make it a firm part of my structure.

From today onwards, I will not let anything get in the way of exercising. It is part of how I live.
