Humans are wired for growth

I am slowly convinced that humans are wired for growth.

There are many things that happens when humans get comfortable. Physically, comfort makes the body weak. There is no resistance that makes it anti-fragile to whatever challenges that may come.

Skill wise, comfort makes the brain stagnant. If you work in tech and you are stuck in the same tech stack for five years, you might lose your job pretty soon, especially with AI who can do the grunt work of programming. If you are a boxer and you are stuck with a certain style without adopting to your opponent, a lose is inevitable.

Relationship wise, if you don’t go out of your way to reach out and make friends, you might end up being alone. Probably some people prefer this but life is better with friends.

If you are an entrepreneur and you don’t take risks, your competitors might take your market share as your business slowly becomes irrelevant.

In every domain—physical training, mental mastery, social connection, and entrepreneurship—pure comfort is a trap. Our bodies, brains, and relationships all depend on friction, challenge, and even a little discomfort to stay resilient. Growth isn’t pain for pain’s sake; it’s the necessary friction that forges strength. Embrace it, and you’ll discover what you were always meant to become.
