I sparred with a pro who retired early because of injuries. And I am absolutely blown away on how far I am compared to his level – footwork, timing, reflex, combination, speed. It is absolutely insane and I had to ask him multiple times to stop mid-round because I was getting mauled. And he didn’t even put 100%. I landed some good shots but overall I was way below his level. I could only imagine the pros who compete internationally and the ones who hit the top 1%.
I am super inspired by the craftsmanship. The art. The people who actually spent thousands of hours of skill development, hard training, and competition. There’s something deeply human about mastery—when someone becomes world-class at their craft. That, to me, is the highest expression of being human.
Yes, I got better at sparring today. But the real gift was the reminder: I want to reach that level in my own field too.
